This view shows the "Resurrected Christ" cross still peacefully suspended inside
St. Paul Church after the storm. By the grace of God, it survived Katrina; and like the cross, our St. Paul Church will also survive.

This Website is dedicated to open and accountable discussion concerning the Pastoral decision not to rebuild St. Paul Catholic Church which has existed for over 160 years in Pass Christian, Mississippi. The church was damaged by Hurricane Katrina but remained structurally sound.
On March 3, 2007, Fr. Dennis Carver announced to the congregation that he had decided to forego restoration and rebuilding of the church. He also announced that Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church on Menge Ave., which sustained little damage, will be torn down to make room for a much larger church.
We will always conduct this website courteously and in accordance with Catholic Christian principles. Please join us in our efforts to rebuild a church with historic community roots in a town that was devastated by Katrina.
We hope that all who are opposed to this decision will join with us in learning the facts surrounding this choice and in expressing your opposition.
A FactSheet has been compiled to help inform and educate our fellow parishioners. Former Building Committee and Parish Council members, who participated in meetings, discussions, and church architectural planning sessions throughout 2006, are responsible for the contents of this document.
St. Paul's Church is an integral mainstay of Pass Christian and a beacon to its citizens. A decision not to rebuild this historic church will affect not only the Parishioners but all of the citizens of this quaint Mississippi Gulf Coast town.
